Water Car

Looks like they figured out the driveway....... well sort of...
We like the look but are not engineers so we are not sure what happens when we get torrential rain. According to them it supposed to go to the "left of the house" and completely bypass the carport. The question is will we need a water car to get into the driveway and house. I think we need an engineer that can tell us what happens when we have those big rains (which happens now and then in Austin).

On a different note the stucco goes up on top soon and the roof after.. and drywall is coming soon. The doors are the wrong color and have to be repainted in a lighter green - Lemongrass. The very top will also be stucco with Lemongrass. No funny posting today no sir - we are boring today.

Jar of Fire

Well things have been a little crazy around here. Between getting the old house on the market, work kicking our butts, and a certain game being released our free blog time has been reduced.

We did have a meeting with Nelson (our builder) last week to discuss some color changes due to a roof ordering snafu. He could not order the roof color we wanted since it was a special order so we had to change it and the trim color of the house. After agonizing days over the color choice, this did not thrill us but I think we came up with a nice choice. The house should be painted in the next few weeks so we will finally get to see if the pain was worth it or we open up the wallet and go back to the drawing board. Since we were out there during the week we did not take any pix and to be truthful not much has changed. So stay tuned!

As you may or may not know most of the houses at Agave do not have fireplaces. Some peeps we know (you know who you are) would not buy a house without a fireplace. Personally I find this really odd since the Texas' “winter” is something like two days. The city shuts down if there is any of the white stuff on the ground. To appease those of you who may want a fireplace in your home I found this site which has some neat green modern fireplaces.

Fossil in the Rock

I am not sure how many pictures of one house can be posted, but we might break the bank. We will try to stop ourselves after this post until we see some color on the house.

I guess the rain will always flow to the left as you can see, perhaps we will add rain barrels there and then we can water the lawn from all the water that will end up on that side of the house or take some baths in the rain barrels.

Inside the kitchen, back wall is where refrigerator and pantry go. See windows along the side where sink will be.

Great big long windows in the living room, they let much light filter in the house, darn hard to figure out what will cover those windows at night :)

These are the very cool windows upstairs as seen from the loft area. We will be seeing blue skies out of these babies!

For some reason we like this walkway from the kitchen to the carport. They put railing up already!

As you may know concrete floors can have ERRORS. Here is ours, beautiful aggregate and then a small area where the REBAR can be seen. Nelson was very nice and asked us if we wanted to put wood flooring in the living room to cover this up if it passed inspection. It did pass inspection and we decided to leave it alone, no wood floors in the living room to cover the aggregate. It just gave it a little character, kind of like a fossil in the rock.

Those are some pretend stairs there leading up to the loft and master bedroom. Cant wait to see real ones.

Thats it for this week's installment of "How many pictures of one house can you post".

Architecture and Animals

Another visit to Agave and more views...

Looking out to the back door where there will be a deck some day!

Carport and dining room, to the right is the front door and window...lots of angles..

Master bedroom at the top with windows and bottom 2 bedrooms on the left.

We went to a friend's ranch (Eight Point Ranch) and we got to see Sapphire, the bottle raised Oryx (she is an African oryx, or gemsbok). They have over 2500 animals on their ranch. Of course Sapphire does not live at Agave but she looks really cool and would go with the architecture. She was bottle raised and they let her out with the rest of his her but she still comes to the car when called by name...

Baby buffalo (they are orange!!) and his mother out at the ranch! I am glad we do have some wildlife at Agave like birds, coyotes, and well who knows what else.

Thats it for this weekend of architecture and animals!
