What's an Arcology?

An Arcology is a set of architectural design principles as described by the architect Paolo Soleri. According to Soleri, the basic ideas of arcology stem from concerns that urbanization is claiming an excessive amount of space on Earth and that a more efficient, technologically-driven but ecologically gentle option, is to increase population densities into minimal "footprints" that would preserve surrounding lands for natural ecosystems. We are trying to do our own part by giving up close to 500 feet of house to build a smaller green house with less land. We hope to do solar and all native landscaping requiring virtually no water.

Deborah & David,
This is a great web site you set up. Your family & friends will have fun watching your home being built. The story you created about your home is just wonderful. It has so much "Character"! Everyone who sees your home after it is completed will only wish they had one just like yours. We will have fun showing it off after it is complete.
I have had fun working with you two and I know you can't wait until you see that slab being poured.
